Biography

Erico specialises in flotation circuit mass balancing, modelling and simulation, and the use of these techniques to evaluate flotation loss mechanisms, circuit configuration, and circuit optimum feed-grind size.

He has participated in a number of consulting projects globally, involving process integration and optimisation (mine-to-mill), greenfield design, expansions, throughput and recovery forecasting, and geometallurgical modelling. Erico has also worked on the development of resource and eco-efficient mining and minerals processing plants, looking at coarse particle flotation alternatives and flotation cell hydrodynamics optimisation.

Abstract

Resource and Eco-Efficient Mine-to-Process Optimisation and Greenfield Solutions

The mining industry is facing lower grades and complex deposits that are difficult to exploit. On top of this, we see growing challenges associated with the cost and supply of energy and water, and increasing societal pressure to become more sustainable.

These factors, combined with low metal prices, mean that optimising the entire mining-and-processing production chain is essential for the profitability of both existing and new operations. Hatch is aware of these issues and is driving efforts to help mining operations achieve excellence in sustainable operating efficiency. This is being achieved through the optimisation and integration of mining and processing operating strategies in brownfield operations, as well as the design and implementation of more resource- and eco-efficient processes from mine to plant in greenfield projects.
